Yucaipa, not your typical southern California Town
Nestled at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains, is the small town Yucaipa. Located at the edge of the greater Los Angeles metro area(approximately 80 miles east). Which allows it to escape some of the fast pace life the comes with the urban living in the Los Angeles metro area. With a population of approximately 52,000 people it is a small town in California standards. Spending any time here you will soon realize that the pace of life is slower and has a western vibe.
Yucaipa has many park and outdoor activities. Yucaipa Regional Park is on of the biggest outdoor attractions within the city. It offers fishing, camping, disc golf, picnicking and swimming within the park.
Oak Glenn is just a few minutes drive into the San Bernardino Mountians from Yucaipa. Offering the experience of 4 seasons. Something that is almost nonexistent in southern California. The most popular time of year at Oak Glenn is the fall when apples are ripe. They offer pick your own or you can visit several of the stores and buy fresh apples already picked. If you are in the area you have to have a piece of apple pie, it is delicious.
A few of the other parks with in the city are Yucaipa Community Park, Flag Hill Veterans Memorial Park, Seventh Street Park, "I" Street Park, Rick McCowan Regional Soccer Complex, Wildwood Park, Bryant Glen Sports Complex, as well as the newly established Wildwood Canyon State Park.
